Why Student Journalism MattersIn an age of uncertainty, there has been a shift in attitudes towards the media. Many believe that real, honest journalism no longer matters. But the reality is, we need it now more than ever.

Young journalists often get their start at universities like Penn State. They gain the tools of their trade in the classroom, and put them to use with independent organizations like The Daily Collegian.

Over the years, the Collegian has brought many important stories to light, earning national recognition. In recognition of the outstanding work of student journalists, the paper has received multiple Pacemaker Awards from College Media Association, one of top six awards for student journalism in the country.

The dedicated student journalists of the Daily Collegian are determined to provide the Penn State community with accurate, reliable news. It is important to help fund independent outlets like the Collegian for this purpose. Your support helps student journalists continue to tell stories that matter.
